After a successful event at the NEC in March, Classic Antique Fairs has put a pause on its summer schedule.

Classic Antique Fairs has announced the cancellation of the July Fair in the NEC Birmingham, scheduled forJuly 4-6. The postponement was declared “with a heavy heart” by organiser John Andrews.

He said: “The current economic climate was the deciding factor in this difficult decision. We will be able toconcentrate on the forthcoming November fair, which will run from November 28-30. Classic Antique Fairswould like to thank all dealers and collectors for their ongoing support.”

Classic Antique Fairs is hardly alone in adjusting its strategy. The Eye of the Collector fair, due to hold its fifthfair in June, “has been put on pause due to changing demographics, market dynamics and rising costs,”according to its founder Nazy Vassegh.

Michael Plummer, the TEFAF New York co-founder said: “The world has changed and we are still trying toadjust. These things together have created a fragile fair ecosystem.”

Andrews added: “Despite the current economic climate, we still feel there is a need for a prestigious antiquesfair in the Midlands and the NEC has long been a popular destination for the antique collector. We lookforward to welcoming dealers back to The Classic Antique Fairs’ Autumn Fair.”

The Classic Antique Fairs’ Autumn Fair at the NEC will be located in Hall Eleven on November 28-30.
